How to Troubleshoot an Onkyo Receiver TX-SR805
- 1). Reset your Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver to remove faulty settings or unlock the receiver. Press the power button while holding down the "VCR/DVR" button. The display screen will show "Clear" and the receiver will enter "Standby" mode. Power it back on to verify that all settings have been cleared and the receiver is unlocked.
- 2). Unplug the Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver from the outlet for at least five seconds and then plug it back in. If that does not work, unplug the receiver from the outlet and all speakers and devices for at least one hour. Reconnect the receiver to the wall outlet and increase the volume slowly. If the receiver stays on, reconnect all devices and speakers. If it shuts off, take it for servicing.
- 3). Swap around the speaker plugs to ensure that the speaker connectors are working correctly, if the rear speakers are not functioning. Press "Receiver" on the remote, then "Setup," and scroll to the "Listening Mode Preset." Scroll and select the input being used, then select the desired audio format. Press "Setup" when adjustments are completed and test the audio to verify all speakers are working.
- 4). Calibrate the speaker levels to adjust the settings to your seated area. Press "Receiver" on the remote, then press "Setup" and scroll down to select "Speaker Config." Scroll up and down using the direction arrows on the remote and use the left and right arrows to increase or decrease the audio level of each speaker and subwoofer. Press "Setup" to save the settings and exit the menu.
