American West Legend - Butch Cassidy

The name of Robert LeRoy Parker is not one that is known to the average public, but his alternate name is known to almost anyone with even a slight interest in the legends of the American West.
Butch Cassidy trivia will show that he was born as Robert LeRoy Parker in 1866, and that he started like many similar men of those years working on ranches in his early years.
Cassidy began to slide into a slightly criminal life in is his early years, and although there are many questions about his early years spent in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming, you could easily find a Butch Cassidy quiz that would speculate about criminal activity during those years, such as possibly selling stolen horses.
By 1889, Cassidy had been involved in at least one bank robbery.
In 1894 he would serve over a year and a half for horse theft.
It was shortly after his release from prison that he would form one of the most legendary bands of criminals in history, the Wild Bunch.
This group has been fictionalized and perhaps romanticized in many different films, but they were likely responsible for many different crimes, including several murders.
Butch Cassidy trivia makes many mentions of his most famous partner in crime, "The Sundance Kid".
Sundance was actually Harry Longabaugh, and he was recruited into the Wild Bunch sometimes in 1896.
The group would perpetrate many more robberies, including train robberies, and be included in some shootouts with lawmen, making the authorities seek them with more heat then ever.
Cassidy tried many ways to escape this attention, including seeking amnesty from the governor of Utah, and eventually even fleeing to South America with the Sundance Kid to escape capture after a further incident.
A Butch Cassidy quiz won't be able to tell you exactly how he died, because there are some very conflicting reports, each with their own supporting evidence which claim different ends for the famous criminal.
While many reports have him dying in a shootout in South America after he and Sundance supposedly performed a final robbery, other reports, including one from his own sister, insisted that he returned to the US and lived anonymously there into old age, probably ranching, as he had always stated that his primary ambition was to simply settle down and become an honest rancher.
The most famous film portrayal of Cassidy would be in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
