Beating Acne Strategies

Acne is a common problem that affects millions of people each and every year.
While there is a lot of information on the topic, simple things can be done to make beating acne a reality.
I've been studying the causes and solutions for acne for years now, and have found that a single person can do a lot (without expensive medication).
Try these basic techniques and learn to beat your acne.
  • Clean your skin gently with a mild, non-drying soap (such as Dove, Neutrogena, or Basics).
Always use a clean towel when doing this.
    Remove all dirt or make-up.
Wash once or twice a day, including after exercising.
However, avoid excessive or repeated skin washing.
This can cause scarring or simply contribute to the problem.
  • Shampoo your hair daily, especially if it's oily.
Comb or pull your hair back to keep the hair out of your face.
    Avoid tight headbands.
This will help remove the oil from your skin and give you skin a chance to recover.
  • Try not to squeeze, scratch, pick, or rub the pimples.
Although it might be tempting to do this, it can lead to scarring and skin infections.
This is a hard one, but when you touch your face, you introduce more possible infection to the area.
  • Avoid touching your face with your hands or fingers.
Doing this can make the problem worse.
  • Avoid greasy cosmetics or creams.
Look for water-based or "non-comedogenic" formulas.
    Take make-up off at night.
Try to let your skin breathe, by taking off anything off your skin that can make it worse.
