How to Create a Curly Hair Look for Homecoming

    • 1). Apply heat protectant spray to clean hair that has been blow dried as straight as possible.

    • 2). Use your fingers to work mousse through the roots and hair shaft to provide volume. The hair needs volume for this look to work, and mousse will give volume as well as shape to the curls.

    • 3). Curl 1-1/2 inch sections of hair away from the face with a wide barrel curling iron at least 2 inches in diameter. Curl from the ends to about two inches away from the roots. Release each curl from the iron after eight seconds.

    • 4). Finish the style with a hairspray designed specifically for curly hair. Regular maximum hold hairspray may give the curls a crunchy texture, which is not pleasing to the touch. A hairspray designed for curls will hold the style while keeping the curls soft.

    • 5). Finger-comb the curls to give them a more relaxed look that befits a homecoming event. If the curls fall while finger-combing, then re-curl them immediately and add more hairspray.
