Definition: High arterial blood pressure, in adults, usually defined as pressures exceeding 140/90. Though in certain patient the rate of rise over mid trimester is more accurate in diagnosis. This is not necessarily a chronic condition. Your practitioner may have different definitions based on diastolic and systolic measurements.
Pronunciation: preg-NANCY in-doo-ced High-PER-ten-shun
Also Known As: PIH, high blood pressure in pregnancy
Examples: Mary was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension in her third trimester.
