How To Choose The Best Video Baby Monitor

Baby video monitors are relatively new and have been derived from the standard baby monitors (or sometimes called baby alarms) that have been around for years and years.

The older style baby monitor worked by using a radio system to pick up any noises made by the baby in the room the transmitter was in. Some of these also allowed you to talk to your baby as well as hearing any noise that he or she was making, and some can even play music to your baby to help it get back to sleep.

Parents have used these as it helps them to know that if their baby wakes up and needs anything, they will be able to hear from whereever they are in their home (so long as the other part of the alarm is plugged in near them).

Over the years these have deloped, and now many models also include a video camera so you can watch as well as hear your baby.
You will then have a handset with an lcd screen so you can watch what is happening while you are not in the room.

The best video baby cameras may also have night lights built in to them, or they could have a two way radio allowing you to talk to your baby, or they could play a lullaby to the child when he or she stirs.

The majority of the video baby cameras work well at night as they have a night vision feature incorporated into them. So you will be able to see your baby whether it is daytime or night time.

In the main the video monitors are wireless so that you can walk around your home, safe in the knowledge that you can see your baby, and should be alterted to any problem.

Some of the wireless monitors can ocassionally pick up interference from other wireless products like wireless computer networks, toys or telephones - sometimes even picking up a neighbor who may also be using a monitor.

Going for the DECT (digital audio wireless systems) will overcome any issue with this as they do not pick up any interference at all.

You can also buy baby video monitors that will support more than one camera on the one hand held receiver, and these are even able to be used with most of the standard wireless security cameras that are used throughout your home.

There are many different options available with the video monitors, and it is really a case of going through what you want the monitor to achieve and then narrowing down to one or two models.
