Specs on the 1978 Chevy K10 Bonanza

    Under the Hood

    • The 1978 Chevy K10 came with two engine options: a 250-cubic-inch in-line six-cylinder and a 350-cubic-inch V-8. The straight-six generated 105 horsepower and 185 foot-pounds of torque. The 350 V-8 output 175 horsepower and 275 foot-pounds of torque. Transmission choices for the K10 included the ZW4 three-speed manual transmission and the M20 Muncie four-speed manual. The only automatic offered was the TH350 three-speed transmission.

    Dimensions

    • Some 1978 K10s rode on a 117.5-inch wheelbase and featured a 6.5-foot cargo box. Other models had an extended 131.5-inch wheelbase and eight-foot box. The K10 also was available with a six-occupant crew cab and the same wheelbases.

    Chassis

    • The rear axle ratio for the V-8-powered K10 was 3.07:1; it was 3.42:1 for the six-cylinder version. The front axle was a General Motors 10-bolt version, although some models were equipped with a Dana 44. An independent suspension system with coil springs cushioned the front end, and leaf springs and coil springs softened the rear.
