How to Service a Yale Forklift
- 1). Perform a pre-operation checklist of the Yale forklift to determine what operations need servicing and if parts need to be ordered for any repairs. Perform basic servicing maintenance of the engine, forklift controls and filters.
- 2). Inspect all fluids in the Yale forklift. Visually evaluate engine and fuel lines for leakage for both gas engine or diesel engine equipment. Add hydraulic coolant when the tank reaches a low level. Periodically flush out the coolant system by draining the lines and adding fresh antifreeze.
- 3). Add air to tires if tire pressure is low. Test pressure with the tire gauge. Check tires for any objects embedded in treads. Replace tires if there are leaks or the forklift slides too much due to worn treads.
- 4). Note any frayed or worn wiring leading from the computer system to the engine and transmission. Replace broken or burnt-out lights. Apply lubricant to bearings and gears that are easily accessible. Check forklift control operations for any that are hard to shift into gear. Note unusual noises such as squealing when shifting gears.
- 5). Fill out a service and parts report for items that need to be replaced. Report problems with forklift forks that are cracked or bent out of shape. Order replacement chains if current chains are corroded or elongated.
