Selecting the Right Campsite For Family Camping

Camping is best enjoyed when shared with family and friends.
Not all campsites are created equal, meaning they are not all designed the same.
Here are some helpful hints when selecting a campsite that will accommodate your needs for an enjoyable camping experience.
First of all you will need to determine if being close to the shower house (most are joined with a bathroom facility) is a priority, depending on if you are car camping, which you can easily drive to the facility regardless of the weather conditions or tent camping which brings the inconvenience of getting to your vehicle when it is raining.
Either way the decision will make a difference, especially when you or a family member will need to make a bathroom run late at night or early morning or simply having the shower facility close by for a quick shower after a long hike or fun filled afternoon.
You can also make things easier by setting up a shower tent on your campsite which can be equipped easily with a portable shower or portable toilet to provide easy access and convenience.
Location, Location, Location not only applies to advertising but also when it comes to setting up your tent for maximum comfort and protection.
Choosing the right spot to pitch your tent usually means taking a survey of at least 2 to 3 sites to determine which spot will be the highest, most level and free of debris such as roots, rocks that are embedded in the ground.
Another safety precaution is to make sure you are not setting up directly under a dead tree which under severe weather conditions a large branch or worst case if the tree came down and possibly land on your sleeping tent.
Now that you have decided on the right campsite, you will then need to determine where your campfire will be located prior setting up your tent, it is a good idea to pitch your tent to the furthest point of your campsite to reduce the risk of sparks or ashes being blown onto your tent causing damage or possible injury.
The other area to consider, is the kitchen where the meals are prepared and food is stored properly to prevent intruders such as raccoons and other possible animals in the area which could spoil your meal plans.
Last but not least is having an area on your site designated for outdoor camp games and a place to enjoy a bug free environment by setting up a screen tent with a picnic table inside for playing table games during the day and lighting a lantern for night time entertainment.
Always remember to prepare indoor activities in case there is rainy conditions.
Camping is a great time to enjoy the outdoors build memories with family and friends that will last a lifetime, create a safe and enjoyable environment that can be passed on for generations to come.
