From hunter safety programs to firearm education, a number of federally funded and privately funded grants are available to state agencies and community organizations for the purposes of educating the general public on hunting safety, encouraging and recruiting new hunters to preserve America's hunting heritage, and providing funds for law-enforcement programs. - Funded by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Hunting Heritage Partnership Grant Program provides grants to state fish and wildlife agencies to help expand hunting opportunities and keep hunters and recruit new ones. Funds benefit projects to increase access to hunting lands, create more opportunities to hunt, and fund communications programs. In 2009, the Hunting Heritage Partnership Grant Program awarded more than $400,000 in grants, ranging from $12,000 to $45,000 each.
