How to Treat Bruises Near the Eye

    • 1). Place an ice pack on the eye as soon as possible. To make your own ice pack, freeze a water bottle in the freezer and wrap it with a dry cloth. Gently press the ice pack to the bruised area to help reduce inflammation, pain and swelling. Release and repeat as needed.

    • 2). Apply Heinz vinegar to a cotton ball or something similar. Then, gently rub the vinegar-soaked cotton to the area around the eye. Wait for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse. Vinegar works as a healing agent and actually speeds up the healing process. Avoid getting the vinegar in your eye because it will cause discomfort.

    • 3). Take a pain-relief medication to eliminate pain. A simple over-the-counter drug will suffice. Take as directed on the bottle.

    • 4). Place a heating pad on the bruised eye one to two days after the incident. The heat works to dilate the blood in the area, which improves circulation and speeds up the healing process. It also helps to alleviate pain.

    • 5). Apply makeup around the eye to cover it up and make it less noticeable. A simple concealer that matches your skin will help greatly. Concealers can be purchased at any location that sells cosmetics.
