Window Treatment Solutions for Sliding Patio Doors

    Curtains

    • Probably the least expensive to purchase and the simplest to make if sewing is an option is curtains. Tab top versions work best because they will easily slide over a rod to allow almost instant access to opening or closing the patio doors. Lined curtains are a good bet because they help keep excess heat and cold out.

    Vertical Blinds

    • Vertical blinds are likely the most common option for window-treatment solutions for sliding patio doors. Drawn open and closed on a traverse rod, they can also be turned vertically with a plastic handle to allow small amounts of light into the room as needed. When drawn completely open, they allow full access to the doors, and even while closed, a panel can be moved slightly for urgent access. Available in both solid colors and numerous patterns, vertical blinds can complement almost any decor. Running the gamut from moderately priced to exceedingly expensive (for custom-made versions), these blinds are found in many homes with sliders.

    Motorized Cellular Shades

    • Among the pricier options for window-treatment solutions for sliding patio doors are motorized cellular shades. Usually made from a honeycombed polyester material, they are insulated for additional temperature control. These shades are professionally installed and can be opened and closed with the touch of a button. Many of them come with a remote control for even easier access.
