Nikon Coolpix 995 Specs

    • Nikon introduced the Coolpix 995 in April 2001. The camera replaced the Coolpix 990 in Nikon's lineup. The 995's feature-rich appointments made it a very desirable camera when introduced. The camera's specifications, build-quality and pedigree helped it garner positive reviews from many in the photography industry.

    • The Nikon Coolpix 995 features a 1/1.8-inch high-density charge coupled device (CCD).

    Pixels and Image Size

    • The Coolpix 995 has 3.34 million pixels. The camera records images in six different image sizes. A full-size image is 2,048 pixels across and 1,536 pixels high. In SVGA mode the camera records images 1,280 pixels across and 960 pixels high. In VGA mode the pixels recorded equal 640 pixels across and 480 pixels high. When used in UXGA mode the camera records 1,600 pixels across and 1,200 pixels high. In XGA mode the Coolpix 995 records images 1,024 pixels across and 768 pixels high. Used in 3:2 mode the camera records an image 2,048 pixels across and 1,360 pixels high.

    • The Coolpix 995 uses a Nikkor 8 to 32mm f/2.6-5.1 zoom lens. The lens features 10 elements in eight groups.

    Monitor

    • The Coolpix 995 features a 1.8-inch polysilicon TFT LCD monitor. The monitor utilizes 110,000 dots and has five brightness levels, 11-step hue adjustment and offers approximately 97 percent frame coverage.

    Focus Modes

    • The Nikon Coolpix offers five focus modes -- continuous autofocus, single autofocus, infinity and macro focus modes plus a 50-step manual focus mode. The manual focus mode has a focus confirmation setting to aid in obtaining proper focus.

    Storage and Capacity

    • The Coolpix 995 shoots compressed and uncompressed images. The compressed image quality settings are fine, normal and basic. The camera uses RGB TIFF files for uncompressed images. The camera uses a 16MB CompactFlash Card type II or I for storing images. The storage card can hold 10 images shot in fine mode, 19 images shot in normal mode and 37 images shot in basic mode.

    • The Coolpix 995 has four-exposure modes -- programmed automatic, shutter priority automatic, aperture priority automatic and manual. The camera also features exposure compensation plus auto exposure bracketing. The camera features 256-segment matrix metering, spot metering, center-weighted metering and AF spot metering.

    • The Coolpix 995 has an ISO range of ISO 100 to ISO 800. The camera also features auto and manual white-balance control, a shutter speed range of 1/2300 of a second to 60 seconds and a built-in speedlight with a guide number of 32-feet at ISO 100.
