How to Light the Standing Pilot in an Armstrong Air-Ease Furnace

    • 1). Turn the thermostat to its lowest setting. The thermostat is on the main control panel near the bottom of the furnace. Turn off the electrical supply to the furnace. Even gas furnaces typically have an electrical connection to power the fan. The switch is along the side of the furnace. You can also flip the circuit breaker in your house to shut off power to the furnace.

    • 2). Remove the burner compartment access panel to reveal the gas control knob.

    • 3). Turn the gas control knob to the "Off" position. Wait at least five minutes for any residual gas to clear out of the furnace. Turn the knob back to the "On" position to restart the gas supply.

    • 4). Replace the burner access panel and turn the electrical power to the furnace back on. Turn the thermostat to your desired setting and the pilot light will ignite.
