How To Reduce Your Double Chin

A double chin can make you look older, fatter and less attractive.
There are different ways to get rid of it.
But before you learn how to reduce your double chin, you need to know what produced it in the first place.
There are three basic causes for the development of double chin - heredity, obesity and age.
The ways to counter the effects of each are slightly different.
Therefore, you need to determine what actually caused it.
You can then use several different ways to reduce your it.
Exercise General exercises as well as those aimed at the muscles around the neck can help in reducing double chin.
Chewing sugar-free gum is a good exercise to the jaw muscles that are related to the chin.
If you dislike chewing gum, you can mimic the action because it has the same effect on the jaw muscles.
Another effective exercise is opening your mouth wide and jutting the lower jaw out, and making the scooping motion of a shovel with the lower jaw.
Apart from neck-related exercise, you can also do other general exercises like walking, running, swimming or weight-lifting to lose overall weight in the body.
This will help lose the fat under your chin that is the cause of the problem.
Calorie Intake You can reduce your intake of calories if you are on a high fat diet.
However, ensure that it does not fall below the minimum recommended level of 1200 calories a day.
Spread the intake of calories through the day so that the body is able to metabolize it well.
Switch to a high fiber diet while reducing your calorie intake at the same time.
Good Posture Your chin generally gets stretched when you tilt your head backwards.
So always try to hold your head high up with your jaw slightly jutting out to give the appearance of a flatter chin.
You can also invest in an ergonomic chair to maintain a good posture.
Camouflage There are several ways to camouflage double chin.
You can use makeup, appropriate hair styles, and certain styles of clothes to draw attention away from your double chin.
Cosmetic Surgery This should be the last resort if none of the other options work.
A procedure called Lipectomy or Mentoplasty is done to shorten the chin muscles and remove the fat pad that produce the double chin.
The surgery is relatively safe as it involves a small cut under the chin which normally heals within a week.
