How to Get Rid of Bats Without Killing Them

    Window

    • 1). Open a window in a room that has one entrance, such as a kitchen or bedroom.

    • 2). Using a broom, lightly push the bat toward this room. Wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, socks, shoes and a hat to help ensure that the bat is not able to come in contact with your skin.

    • 3). Shut the door to the room and wait for the bat to simply leave. Open the door a crack periodically to see if the bat has left before entering the room.

    Coffee Can

    • 1). Wait for the bat to land on the floor. This may take several hours so be prepared to wait patiently for the bat.

    • 2). Quickly place a coffee can over the bat once it has landed. Wear some heavy gloves on your hands to ensure that the bat does not bite you.

    • 3). Shove a piece of cardboard underneath the can. Carry the cardboard and coffee can outside and quickly release the bat and walk back into your home. Step a few yards away from your house to ensure that the bat does not simply fly back into your home.
