Tours To Ukraine

Most people from Western part of the world do not even know what and where Ukraine is, some found out about Ukraine only in November 2004 at the time of Orange Revolution. This is the reason why tours to Ukraine have not become as popular as tours to Spain or Italy yet.
Nevertheless for more than 20 years of independence some parts of Ukraine have overcome the Soviet burden of the USSR; some are still in the process that is why tours to Ukraine have been something exotic or too dangerous and adventurous to be considered.
We can say that large Central, Southern and Western cities of Ukraine can be easily taken for some European cities. Such wonderful cities as Kyiv, Odessa and Lvov stand out as having European style service, European comfort in hotels and great service and quality in restaurants. Those seeking comfort and European-style service travel to these cities and sample experience being in the country which had been concealed behind the Iron Curtain for many years.
Odessa is likely to be the city where Soviet type mentality has been overcome completely. Its multiple little picturesque cafes on Deribasovskaya and some other neighboring streets can easily remind you France or Italy. Many people speak some sort of English here, they are very friendly to foreigners and tourists pay them back by having Odessa as the most desirable destination in Ukraine. Odessa has been put on the map of round the world cruise lines and is visited by most famous ocean liners, like Seven Seas and Giaconda.
Thus, you can see that you can visit Ukraine shortly buying a round- the- world cruise.
Among tours to Ukraine, particularly, the cruises down the Dnieper River have rated top among Canadian, American and German tourists who like to enjoy comfort of the ship and breathtaking views of the river. Such tours visit major Ukrainian cities on the Dnieper River, such as Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Sevastopol, Odessa.
The drawback of such tours is that the tourists see only the touristic part of Ukraine. Being in large groups they are isolated from Ukrainians and cannot see what they really want but only what the cruise companies choose.
Other type of tours to Ukraine is a large bus or coach trip where a group of 40-50 people come to Kyiv or Lvov and travel either from Kyiv to Lvov or from Lvov to Kyiv staying for 2 or three days in different cities on route, such as Ivano- Frankivsk, Kolomya, Bukovel. These tours are mostly liked by Canadians of Ukrainian origin as many of them still have relatives in Western part or Ukraine which up to 1939 used to be a part of Austrian Empire.
Disadvantage of a large group bus tours is similar to the one of cruises but here we are adding fatigue from a bus ride.
Only few companies offer small group (up to 5 people) or individual tours to Ukraine. Such tours are flexible as the tourists can basically choose what they want to see and when. Instead of a big bus a luxury van is used which is air conditioned and equipped with all necessary safety means. You can talk to ordinary Ukrainian here and see the Ukraine in a deeper projection and insight. Such trips are tailor-made and ideal for the ones thinking of developing business in Ukraine or visiting friends and relatives.
