How to Install a Concrete Shower Base
- 1). Build a dam on your shower floor by placing 1-by-6 boards along the existing layout.
- 2). Cut the boards to length with a miter saw.
- 3). Attach the corners of the boards together with screws.
- 4). Place the shower pan liner over the shower layout and cut along the outside edges, allowing an extra 5 inches on each side. The extra liner is what extends up the side walls.
- 5). Layout the trimmed shower pan liner, pulling it tightly towards each corner.
- 6). Smooth out the bottom of the liner so it is ready for the concrete.
- 7). Cut out the shower pan liner around the drain.
- 8). Remove the top flange and mold the liner around the drain.
- 9). Replace the flange and attach the drain grill. Tighten the screws.
- 10
Mix your concrete in a bucket and pour it into your shower over the liner to form the base. - 11
Add enough concrete to raise the level to your established height. - 12
Smooth out the concrete with a trowel, making sure there are no bubbles or lumps. - 13
Evenly distribute the concrete, avoiding the drain. Check it with a level before the concrete dries.
