RV Parks close to Cumberland, MD

Cumberland is a city in the far western part of Maryland and in a scenic mountainous area near both the West Virginia and Pennsylvania state lines. Cumberland, which is in a valley surrounded by the Allegheny Mountains, does not have its own RV parks. Several are located within 30 miles, however, including two private campgrounds and a sprawling state park. - Twelve miles to the northeast of Cumberland in the town of Flintstone and near the state line of Pennsylvania, the Hidden Springs Campground has sites that are full hook-ups, sites with just water and electric, and sites with no connections at all. The sites have up to 50-amp electric. The campground, which is open from the beginning of May until the end of October, features recreational activities such as a swimming pool, a fishing pond, a miniature golf course, a game room, playgrounds, and basketball, badminton, shuffleboard and volleyball courts. Additional amenities include restrooms, showers, a dump station, laundry facilities and a store with groceries, ice, firewood and camping supplies. The Rocky Gap State Park and Buchanan State Forest are among the nearby attractions.

A big feature in the park is 243-acre Lake Habeeb, which is popular for fishing and boating. The park has 278 campsites in all, including 30 that come with electric hook-ups for RVs. Rocky Gap State's Park campground also has a dump station, centrally located restrooms, showers and a laundry facility. A family group camping site and three youth areas for group camping are also in a park with multiple hiking trails and four picnic pavilions. Additional features include a boat ramp, boat rentals, a nature center, a game room, a swimming beach and a camp store.

dnr.state.md.us - Approximately 30 miles to the east of Cumberland, the Little Orleans Campground & Park Area includes 222-forested acres. Each RV site has water, sewer and electric connections up to 50 amps as well as a picnic table and fire pit. The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is half a mile from the campground, while the 43,000-acre Green Ridge State Forest is directly north of the park. Numerous hiking and fishing opportunities are in the area, including a small fishing pond for children in the Little Orleans Campground itself. Features on the property include two swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and a playground for kids. Across from the playground are restrooms, showers and a laundry facility. An additional feature is a center with a recreation room, pool tables, pinball machines and a store that sells RV parts, hunting supplies, fishing equipment, firewood and ice.
