How to Involve a Pet in Christmas

    • 1). Have photos of your pet taken. Many pet retail stores like Petco and PetSmart have photographers right in their store during the holiday. You can even choose a holiday background. Local animal shelters do the same thing with Santa Claus and require a small fee that serves as donations to help the shelter.

    • 2). Dress your pet in a holidays costume like a Santa suit or Elf outfit. Take your own pictures and feature him on your Christmas cards to send to family.

    • 3). Register your pet in a holiday parade. Dress your pet in holiday garb and take him to your local town where the parade is being held. Dogs can be put on leashes and walked and cats can be placed in an enclosed animal stroller to be wheeled throughout the parade. It is best to avoid involving small animals like rabbits, ferrets, and gerbils in an activity with so many people. They will only get scared.

    • 4). Purchase a stocking with paw prints on it for your pet and hang it next to the family's stockings. Wrap toys and treats you know that your pet likes and stuff them in the stocking. Give it to your pet on Christmas morning and let him work at opening the packages themselves.
