Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

• 1). Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program (see Resources). Click on the installation link and follow the on-screen instructions until the program is saved on your computer. Open Malwarebytes by clicking on the icon on your desktop, or click the "Start" button, "Programs" and "Malwarebytes."
  
  
• 2). Click the "Update" tab and click "Check for Updates" in the middle of the screen. If there are updates, it will automatically download them. This download will take less than five minutes. When it is finished, a dialog box opens with "The Database was Successfully Updated from Version...." Click "OK."
  
  
• 3). Click the "Scanner" tab. Select "Perform quick scan," or "Perform full scan." A quick scan only looks at the important areas of your computer where spyware usually resides. This scan takes approximately one hour. The full scan, which takes approximately two hours, scans every file on your computer. In most cases a quick scan will suffice, but in this situation it is recommended to run a full scan. After you have made your selection, click the "Scan" button. When it is finished, a dialog box will open showing you the affected files on your system and everything that Malwarebytes removed. Exit the program by clicking the red "X" in the top-right corner.
  
  

Spybot Search & Destroy

• 1). Download SpyBot Search & Destroy (see Resources). Click on the installation link and follow the on-screen instructions. Open the program by clicking on the icon on your desktop or by selecting the "Start" menu, then "Programs" and "Spybot Search & Destroy."
  
  
• 2). Open Spybot and click "Check for Problems." A list of spyware and adware Spybot checks during a scan appears at the bottom of the screen. This may take up to an hour depending on factors such as the last time you performed a scan with Spybot. When the the program finishes, a box that says "Fix Selected Programs" will open.
  
  
• 3). Check each box next to the problems found and click "Fix Selected Problems" at the top of the screen. Click "Yes" on the pop-up window, and the entries will be removed from your computer. Spybot puts a large green check mark next to each spyware name it removes.
  
  
• 4). Click the immunize icon in the top left panel. Click "Enable permanent blocking of bad address in Internet Explorer." Close the program by clicking on the X at the top right corner.
  
  

Ad-Aware Free SE

• 1). Download Ad-Aware Free (see Resources). Click on the installation link and follow the on-screen instructions until the program is saved on your computer.
  
  
• 2). Open Ad-Aware by clicking on the icon on your desktop, or click the "Start" button, "Programs" and "Ad-Aware." Any available updates will automatically download. The update can take up to an hour to download depending upon how many updates are available. When it is finished updating, the program will continue to open.
  
  
• 3). Click "Scan Now" on the left. This will be slow the first time you run the software, though quicker during subsequent uses. When the scan is finished, you will be presented with a listing of the spyware found and removed on your system. Close the program by clicking on the "X" in the top right corner.
