How to Build a Catamaran Trailer

    • 1). Cut the 2-inch box pipe into sections for the construction of the frame of the trailer. You will need to cut one piece 92 inches long, two pieces 94 inches long and two pieces 58 inches long with a band saw.

    • 2). Cut the 2 1/2-inch box pipe into sections to form a piece 92 inches long, one piece 48 inches long, and one piece 14 feet long.

    • 3). Lay out the pieces of the frame with the 14-foot piece of 2 1/2 inch box steel in the center. Cap one end of the 14-foot piece with the 4-foot piece. Place the 92-inch piece perpendicular to the 14-foot piece at a distance of 17 feet from the head of the 14-foot piece. Lay the two 94-inch pieces of 2-inch box steel parallel with the 14-foot piece. Place each of the 94-inch pieces 24 inches from the center of the 92-inch piece. Connect the end of the 94-inch pieces to the 14-foot center beam using the two 58-inch long pieces of 2-inch box steel. Lay the center support for the catamaran across the top of the frame at a distance of 7 feet from the 92-inch end piece.

    • 4). Weld each of the pieces together to form a frame for the trailer. The long tongue will hold the trailer hitch. Allow each joint to cool.

    • 5). Attach the wheel axle and wheels to the frame from the underside of the frame. The axle should be secured to the trailer using nuts and bolts.

    • 6). Attach a towing hitch ball to the front of the center tongue.
