Dodge Grand Caravan Trailer Wiring Harness Problems

    Function

    • Typically, on the back of a Dodge Grand Caravan, there is a connector into which a trailer can plug in using a T-1 connector. This simple, one-plug connection powers the trailer's lights for safety on the road.

    Considerations

    • If the lights are having difficulty turning on or staying on, the most common issue is grounding the trailer's wiring harness. Each light on the trailer needs to be grounded to the bare metal frame of the trailer. Any loose ground, such as one touching a painted part of the frame, will result in lighting malfunctions.

    Prevention/Solution

    • To prevent other wiring harness issues, verify that the wiring is not cut or frayed on the trailer. Make sure all connections within the wiring harness are secure and not loosely attached.
