How to Make a Multi Directional HD Antenna
- 1). Place the wood vertically on a work surface. Measure 2 inches down from the upper left corner of the wood. Measure 1-1/2 inches in from the 2-inch mark. Place a dot with the pencil at the 1-1/2-inch mark. Repeat this procedure, only starting at the right upper corner.
- 2). Measure down 5 inches from the dot on the left side of the wood. Make another dot. Measure down 5 inches from the dot on the left side of the wood. Make another dot. Repeat this procedure a third time. Then repeat this entire procedure, only starting with the dot on the right side of the wood.
- 3). Place a metal washer over each of the dots. Partially screw metal screws through the washers and into the wood with the Phillips screwdriver.
- 4). Measure the length of one of the 20-inch metal rods. Bend the rod at the halfway mark with the pliers at a 90-degree angle. Repeat this procedure with all of the 20-inch metal rods.
- 5). Place the bent part of each of the metal rods around one of the metal screws. Rotate the metal rods so that the free ends point left or right, depending upon which side of the wood the screw is located.
- 6). Wind an end of one of the 18-inch wires around the screw at the upper left side of the wood. Position the wire so that it wraps around the next screw on the right side, then the next screw on the left and finally the last screw on the right. Repeat this entire procedure with the other 18-inch wire, starting with the screw at the upper right side of the wood.
- 7). Wrap the exposed end of one of the two wires attached to the balun coax connector around the second from the bottom screw on the left side. Wrap the exposed end of the other wire attached to the balun coax connector around the second from the bottom screw on the right side.
- 8). Screw down all of the screws using the Phillips screwdriver. Wrap a strip of electrician's tape around the two 18-inch wires where they touch each other so as to insulate them.
- 9). Screw an end of the coaxial cable into the coax port on the balun coax connection. Stand your multi-directional HD antenna outside in your backyard against a tree or the side of the house. Run the coaxial cable into the house and over to the TV. Screw the end of the coaxial cable into the coax input on the back of the TV.
