How to Print a Cookbook

    • 1). Explore the possibilities of a company that specializes in fundraiser cookbooks. One of these is Morris Press Cookbooks, which has been doing business since 1933. If you are printing a cookbook for a legitimate non-profit organization, there are programs that allow the customer to pay for the books after the books have been printed and delivered. This allows the customer to sell the books in the fundraiser and pay for the printing from the proceeds. With Morris Cookbooks, they supply the customer with a kit to complete, making the process easy, even for the novice. The customer basically supplies the recipes, and the company assembles and prints the book. You will be required to print a minimum of 150 books. Link in Resources.

    • 2). Take charge of the entire process. Write your cookbook in a Microsoft Word document. To print a cookbook that is 8 ½" x 11", create a document that size and set all the margins to .7. Set the gutter to .21 and position it to the left. Format your document to resemble the pages in a book. Upload your Word document at a print-on-demand website. A popular site is Lulu. It is free to join, and you can upload a file on the website to create a book. There is no minimum printing requirement. You can print just one cookbook for a reasonable price.

    • 3). Do it yourself. After writing your cookbook in a Microsoft Word document, you can print the book from your own printer or take the file to an office supply store for printing. If you want the pages printed on both sides of the paper, you will have to print on the reverse side of the pages. Word also has formatting options to print a 5 ½" x 8 ½" book, which will involve printing four pages on a single piece of 8 ½" x 11" paper. An office supply store can bind the printed cookbook using a plastic comb binding, which is suitable for cookbooks.
