How to Properly Display a Christian Flag
- 1). Choose a place to display the Christian flag. It is appropriate to display the flag in the church chancel or choir loft.
- 2). Place or secure the floor stand or wall mounting bracket in the appropriate location. At floor level, place the Christian flag outside the communion railing. Place the flag to the right of the altar when displaying it within the chancel, the communion railing or the choir loft.
. - 3). Ensure that the orientation of the Christian flag is correct in its placement. Display the flag to the right of the congregation as they face the altar if the flag is to be displayed at floor level outside the chancel. Place the flag to the right of the altar when inside the chancel or choir loft or area. The flag should be to the right of the clergy or to the right of the choir as they face the congregation. Alternatively, place the Christian flag and the national flag on opposite sides of the sanctuary, at the same level. Display the flag so that the blue field emblazoned with the red Latin cross is visible to the congregation.
- 1). Hang the Christian flag above any other flag when displayed on the same flagpole.
- 2). Place the Christian flag to the right of all other flags when displayed on separate, side-by-side flagpoles.
- 3). Fly a triangular white pennant emblazoned with a blue Latin Cross on United States Navy ships when the Fleet Chaplain leads the Service of Divine Worship at sea. It should appear above the American flag above the masthead.
- 1). Carry the Christian flag before all other flags in a single-column processional.
- 2). Carry the Christian flag at the head of the column, to the right of any other flag, in a double-column processional. As in the single-column processional, carry the Christian flag immediately behind the Cross.
- 3). Display the flag at the head of the column, immediately behind the Cross in both single- and double-column processions.
