How to Create a Custom Twitter Background
Social networking has become a necessity in the way we do business today and thousands of companies have jumped on the Twitter bandwagon and begun tweeting.
And with Twitter fast becoming the place to be seen you'll want to stand out from the crowd.
There's no better way to stand out on Twitter than by creating an identity for yourself, or your business, and the best way to do this is to create a custom background.
Twitter has a selection of designs to choose from but perhaps none that quite reflect your brand the way you'd like it to - plus there's always the possibility of it being used on hundreds of other Twitter pages.
The main advantage of having your own custom background on your Twitter site is that it will help you to attract more followers by showing that you are an active user and have the authority to communicate for your business or brand.
So I suggest moving away from the selection of Twitter backgrounds immediately and create your own.
With no specific guidelines issued by Twitter it may be tricky to get started which is why I've come up with these simple to follow steps to creating your very own Twitter background.
Design: Using photoshop or similar package create your own design to 1600 x 1200px to ensure that your background design will be visible on both old and new monitors.
NB.
Your design anchors to the top left of your Twitter page and there is around 760px in the centre of the screen where your tweets are displayed so bear this in mind when creating your design.
You don't want anything essential to be obscured so play around with the layout to make best use of where the background is most visible.
Size and save: Twitter permit file sizes up to 800k to be uploaded but I recommend no more than around 260k, and no more than 300k, to ensure your background loads quickly.
Save your file as a jpeg.
When you have your file ready for uploading follow these simple steps: Step 1: Go to 'Settings' Step 2: Select 'Design' Step 3: Choose 'Change background image' Step 4: Browse for your jpeg and upload Step 5: Opt to 'Change design colours' so you can personalise your menu bar.
Remember do not tick 'tile background' and your personalised design should upload smoothly.
Et voila, your custom Twitter background should now appear on your Twitter site.
