The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a fantasy adventure film from 2010 produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Jon Turteltaub, starring Nicolas Cage stars, and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, the team behind the franchise National Treasure. The story, although totally different, it is said to have been loosely based on the segment in Fantasia Sorcerer's Apprentice from Disney, which in turn is based on the late 1890's symphonic poem by Paul Dukas and 1797, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ballad.
The film was originally to be released July 16, 2010, but it will be released two days earlier on July 14, 2010.
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer today in Manhattan trying to defend the city of his sworn enemy, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can not do it alone, he recruited Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a type apparently means demonstrating a hidden potential, like his protege reluctant. The sorcerer gives his partner does not want a crash course in art and science of magic, these unlikely partners will work together to stop the forces of darkness.
The basis idea for The Sorcerer's Apprentice film was mostly Nicolas Cage who wanted to make a feature length based on a Fantasia segment of the same name. The film announced n February 2007.
