How to Make an Easy Pendulum Clock

    • 1). Unpack the clock kit and lay the pieces out on a flat work surface. Use the list included with the kit to make sure all the parts are there. Separate the case pieces from the mechanical pieces.

    • 2). Make the case of the clock. Pendulum clocks require room behind the clock movement to hang the pendulum from, so they usually have some type of case that encloses all the mechanical pieces of the clock. Glue the side case panels to the back of the case and hold in place with the clamps. Let dry.

    • 3). Remove the clamps from the side panels. Glue the top and bottom panels to the sides and back of the clock case. Hold in place with the clamps. Let dry.

    • 4). Use the screws provided in the kit to attach the movement seat board to the riser blocks. The riser blocks project the movement toward the middle of the case, which will allow the pendulum to swing freely. The clock movement will be attached to the seat board later.

    • 5). Remove the clamps from the clock case. Mount the risers into the case with the supplied screws. Often, there are holes in the case back for the screws to go through. These holes also eliminate the need to guess where the risers and seat board should attach.

    • 6). Attach the movement to the seat board. This may click into place, or it may need to be screwed into place, depending on the kit. If your kit comes with a front panel or door, attach it now.

    • 7). Hang the clock in the desired location. Set the time. Thread the top of the pendulum through the opening in the bottom of the case, and hang it on the back of the clock movement. Put the pendulum into motion.
