- 1). Use a pool net to drag out any large debris from the pool water, such as leaves, branches and tree bark.
- 2). Scrub the lining of the pool with a brush to remove any deposits that have built up. The most common location of stains likely will be on the pool's water line.
- 3). Run a swimming pool vacuum through the pool to remove smaller debris, such as dust and dirt. The vacuum is useful for removing dirt deposits that can collect in the deepest area of the pool, and it is specifically designed for pool use.
- 4). Turn on your pool filter and run it for at least six to eight hours per day when the pool is in use to further clean the water.
- 5). Add chlorine in accordance with the instructions for your particular pool to keep the water clear of bacteria.
