Living in a two bedroom flat near Jama Masjid, his family comprises of his wife and four children who are all forced to live in a small space due to the over soaring property rates. This 52 year old businessman has ensured that he and his family get adequate space to rest in peace. He stated that he had booked a total of 12 graves for Rs. 48,000 so that his family members do not have to face trouble in finding a space to lie when they die. He further stated that no one wishes to get buried next to a stranger and thus they all will stay together as they will be buried next to each other after their death. He had done the booking a decade ago and out of 12 graves 4 graves have already been used by his family. Booking cars, flats marriage halls was a lot common but now people book graves for their loved ones.
This trend earlier was a lot common in Gulf countries but now it has picked momrentum even in India. Another resident of Delhi has booked 88 graves in his grandfather's name and there are many others who have already made such deals. A grave close to a religious person costs higher as compared to the others. The name of the owner is inscribed on the gravestone. Once the grave is booked it cannot be passed on to another person.
