It is customary for a student to give his teacher a gift during the Christmas season. Talk to your preschooler about this tradition and brainstorm with him for some ideas. Think of thoughtful, creative gifts that will express your appreciation for the teacher but also will be useful in her classroom or at home. - A Christmas ornament is a special and personalized gift for a teacher. Your child can help you personalize a Christmas ornament through a quick art project. If you buy a bare Christmas ornament from a craft store, you can write a personal message with for the teacher along with "Merry Christmas!" with a paint marker. Finish off the ornament with a festive ribbon slipped through the ornament's top.
- Teachers always need new school supplies. Get your teacher ready for the next session of school by filling a Christmas basket with school supplies she can use. You can make the basket more festive by selecting items that are red, green, white and gold. For example, select a new pair of red scissors, a box of white chalk, stickers for grading papers that are Christmas-themed, and decorative Christmas pencils. The teacher can use some of these items for prizes for the students when they do good work in class.
- Help your teacher make memories with her students and document the school year with a new instant photo camera, such as a Polaroid. You can place this camera in a Christmas basket with instant Polaroid film, a ball of green yarn and a package of red clothespins. The teacher can take photos of the students and the class and pin them with clothespins to the yarn, which can be strung across the room or hung on a wall. Another idea is to fill a basket that a teacher can use for photographs from a digital camera, such as glossy photo paper, plastic photo frames and a paint pen marker for writing messages on the photos or frames.
