What Is a Portable Room Air Conditioner?

Description

A portable room air conditioner is a larger, stand-up air conditioner that ventilates through a series of one or more hoses in the back of it. It may have wheels on the bottom and does not need to be placed in a window.

Advantages

The most obvious advantage of a portable air conditioner is that it can be moved from room to room easily, without much disassembly. While a window air conditioner will have to be unscrewed from the window to remove the machine, the portable air conditioner merely needs its hoses moved to another window. The window air conditioner, too, is heavy and awkward to carry from window to widow.

Disadvantages

A portable air conditioner costs more to operate because it uses more energy than other types of air conditioners, while also costing more to purchase. In general, they can only cool rooms up to 400 square feet in size while window air conditioners can cool rooms that are larger.
