How to Easily Make a Wood Stand Up Paddle

    • 1). Use a pencil to mark along the right and left edges of a 6-inch wide, 10-inch tall piece of wood, 3 inches beneath the top edge of the wood.

    • 2). Make 2 marks along the top edge of the wood 2 inches apart from each other and 2 inches from the sides.

    • 3). Draw a line to link the mark on the right side with the right mark on the top edge. Repeat for the left side marks.

    • 4). Use a saw to cut off the top corners using the lines you drew between marks.

    • 5). Use sandpaper to sand down the pointed corners of the wood.

    • 6). Make a deep cut centered 1/2-inch wide 3-inch in one end of the wooden rod.

    • 7). Put wood glue on the narrow end of the wooden rod and put the end into the cut in the rod. Push the wood into the rod as far as it will go.

    • 8). Strengthen the joint between the paddle and rod by wrapping fin ropes around the joint section.

    • 9). Apply epoxy resin on the paddle and handle. Lay out newspaper to catch any dripping.

Sand your paddle. Start with coarse sandpaper then move to increasingly finer sandpaper, until your paddle is smooth.
