The first question you need to ask yourselves when going to adopt a dog from the shelter or anywhere else is, why is it you want a dog. Is it for companionship for you and your family? Is it for your children? Do you think that will be a good experience for them? Do you have another pet at home that you think should have some company? Are you looking for protection or security for your house? Are you perhaps interested in competition or sports that involve dogs? These are all questions that are very important to ask yourselves because not every family needs a dog and not every dog is right for your particular family.
