How to Mount a TV in a Van
- 1). Insert a small flat-head screwdriver in the little square opening in the dome light's lens cover, then pry the lens cover off the dome light. Place the screwdriver under the fixture of the dome light to loosen it up. When the dome light is loose enough, remove it from its position so that it hangs from the wires. Unplug the wires from the back of the dome light.
- 2). Tuck the wires up into the hole in the ceiling and place the TV mounting bracket over the hole so it sits flat on the ceiling. Trace around the TV mounting bracket with a carpenters knife cutting off the headliner that is under the TV mounting bracket. Remove the TV mounting bracket and remove the cut headliner.
- 3). Pull the wires down out of the hole in the ceiling and insert them through the holes in the TV mounting bracket. Hold the mounting bracket in place where the headliner is cut. Use a drill with 10-24 machine screw tap drill bit to drill holes through the mounting bracket into the ceiling. Machine screw taps make threaded holes that screws can grip.
- 4). Insert the screws through the holes you drilled and tighten with a Philips screwdriver. Insert the wires into the TV monitor. Slide the TV monitor onto the mounting plate. Your TV is now mounted to the ceiling of your van.
