How to Make a Doll Closet Out of Wood
- 1). Place one of the longer boards vertically onto a tabletop, and place a second long board standing up on one long side on top of the flat board. Line up the second board flush with the left edge of the first board, then nail it in place.
- 2). Place a third long board standing up on one long side on top of the flat board. Line up the third board flush with the right edge of the first board, then nail it in place.
- 3). Place one of the short boards against the bottom of the form, line up the edges, then nail it into place. Repeat to nail the remaining short board onto the top of the form.
- 4). Place the remaining long board on top of the box form, and tack on two brass hinges along the left side of the remaining board and onto the box. This will enable the top board to open like a door.
- 5). Sand the entire box using medium-grain sandpaper, moving the sandpaper in small, circular motions. Focus on the corners and edges to make them smooth and to remove any jagged or rough spots.
- 6). Sand the entire box using fine-grain sandpaper, moving the sandpaper in the same small, circular motions. This will make the box sleek and soft-feeling.
- 7). Wipe off the doll closet using a washcloth to remove any sawdust and debris.
- 8). Attach a hook and latch using tacks onto the side of the hinged front, positioning the latch on the opposite side of the board from the hinges.
- 9). Paint the doll closet using colorful latex paint. Allow the paint to dry for 30 minutes before using the doll closet.
