National EMT Levels

When it comes to emergency medical technician certification, there are three main levels, the EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate and Paramedic. As students progress from one level to another, they learn many advanced medical skills, but each level requires intensive training. All patients also learn more about a scene and transport care for patients requiring medical assistance at all levels. Through the certification of EMT, it all depends on the objectives of an individual's career and the time they are willing to invest in training. To become an EMT-Basic, a person can train in the first two years and become an EMT-paramedic who need to go through a five semesters of training.

Training plan, EMT-Basic:

Students essentially learn how to access medical patients in the EMT-Basic level. Students should learn more about the basic skills of technical emergency services involved in the formation that is certified EMT-Basic. A basic skills course and a basic laboratory are often the only courses in the programs of Basic certification. Evaluation of the patient's condition and provide basic care for patients who are learned in the course of basic skills. Students are able to practice these skills in basic laboratory. At the elementary level, the EMTs are not authorized to give anything to a patient intravenously.

EMT-Intermediate level training:

EMT-Paramedic education:

The field of emergency medical service technicians, training of students at the highest certification, when they reach a level of EMT-paramedic.

EMT-Paramedic is the highest level that can be reached during the EMT training. Three to five semester training program provides the majority of schools. It 'important that students have completed their studies or EMT-basic or intermediate, or both, in order to initiate a level of EMT-paramedic training. specialized courses such as pharmacology is now focused on the EMT-paramedic training.
