Review of Daft Punk"s "Harder Better Faster Stronger Remix Live"

"Harder Better Faster Stronger" is a song recorded by the French duo, named Daft Punk, in October 2001.
A live version of the song was performed in Paris and then consequently released as a single in 2007.
The performance reviewed in this document is that one done in Paris, Alive 2007.
This Grammy Award winning (Best Dance Recording) performance features two robots, front and center, who act as the DJ's for the sounds they put forth.
These robots are surrounded by giant, metal, symmetrical structures that tower over them.
The audience sees what seems like hundreds of triangles in pyramid formation all over the stage.
In addition, the structure is set off by millions of lights that flash various colors and textures both over the robots and out into the audience.
The fantastic combination of the metal structures and the lights provides for an outer-body experience for audience members-like being transported to some celestial rave.
The video screens also help the audience members see more of what the robots are doing as they blast out the catchy dance tune.
Examination of the lyrics of the three and one-half minute song reveals few words, but the ones chosen are powerful.
For example, most of the main chorus is "Work It, Make It, Do It, Makes Us, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger...
" These short words are both simple to remember and give a message that males and athletes can relate to because it would seem for many to be their motto-work to become better, faster, and stronger.
But even without this particular grouping of words, the song stands on its own for the music.
The rhythm and beat create an unbelievable dance tune that no one could resist moving along to.
One can't help pumping his fist in the air to the beat.
Yes, it is a great dance tune, but the combined effects of the lighting in the live performance with the sound really makes a difference.
For instance, in many places, the flashing lights follow the exact beat of the music.
When the volume of the sounds increase, so do the numbers of lights.
The audience members are visually drawn in to the performance.
Finally, the sounds created by the world of digital and analog sounds are outstanding.
The robots are the controllers for live electronic music performance and this allows them to be in touch with audience.
The robots use synthesizers to create effects, distortions and compressions of normal sounds.
Just when one thinks they may be playing guitar, keyboard and bass, some other type of layering happens to make us unsure.
The robots use reverb to enhance the digitized voice that delivers the lyrics.
Another impressive component of the song is the use of frequency or pitch.
The low base sounds and the high-pitched electric music are perfect for the human ear and these help with the celestial/space effect.
To top off the complete live performance, the robots maximize the amplitude or volume.
The pulsing sounds not only make an audience member want to pump their arm, but the loud volumes allow the crowd to also yell out the lyrics.
The lights, sounds, lyrics, and volume together create an appealing assault on one's senses.
