OSHA Safety Gear Laws

    General Industry Safety Gear

    • OSHA outlines the safety gear required for eye and face protection, respiratory protection, head protection, foot protection, hand protection and protection against electrical currents and devices. For example, for jobs requiring respirators such as marine terminals, construction and shipyards, the law lists the dangers such as fogs, mists, toxic gases, noxious smoke and vapors, and lists certain types of respirators and their uses, such as air-purifying respirators, atmosphere-supplying respirators and helmet respirators

    Shipyard Employment Safety Gear

    • OSHA also instructs employers and employees who work at shipyards to wear the personal protective equipment to safeguard delicate areas such as eye and face, respiratory organs, head, hands and feet. In addition to the personal protective equipment, employees have to take full advantage of the lifesaving tools. Under this law, employees must participate in personal protective-equipment training programs.

    Marine Terminal Safety Gear

    • OSHA's Marine Terminals laws provide regulations on wearing safety gear and personal protection equipment. For workers who labor at marine terminals, it is mandatory that they put on the eye and face protection, respiratory protection, head protection and foot protection. Other safety clothing such as lifejackets and work vests are categorized as essential for marine workers. This law further stipulates that this safety gear must be provided by the employer.
