What Is Texting on a Qwerty Keyboard?

Differences Between Keyboards

The BlackBerry Curve has a QWERTY keyboard. Almost all the keys you would find on a regular computer keyboard are found on the bottom portion of the BlackBerry. On the Nokia 2720, on the other hand, you must use the phone's key pad to text.

Using the QWERTY Keyboard

Those who are good typists will have no trouble using the QWERTY keyboard because it is laid out exactly like a computer keyboard. Those who aren't good typists will have to hunt and peck. Each key on the phone represents two letters or symbols. The upper letters on each key can be accessed by pressing a "special" key located somewhere on the keyboard.

Practicing on the QWERTY Keyboard

If you are new to texting, it's a good idea to practice before sending a text. Go to the menu on your phone and find the "Messaging" or "Texting" icon. Click to open it and a blank screen will appear. You can now begin typing your message. Try typing: "Hi Mary, Let's go out to lunch later."

If you are unfamiliar with texting or typing, it make take a few minutes to type a message, but with practice you will get faster. If this were a real text message, you would next press "Send" and the address book would open, allowing you to choose one or more people to send the text to.
