How to Remove Excess Bathtub Surround Sealant

    • 1). Properly apply the caulk remover according to the product label. Be careful only to apply it to the excess sealant itself, avoiding contact with the unaffected areas of the bathtub or shower walls.

    • 2). Wait the instructed length of time for the caulk remover to soften the silicone. Use the plastic scraper to loosen the sealant residue from the surface.

    • 3). Cut into the excess sealant using a utility knife if it cannot be pried easily. Also try lubricating the area with hot water to ease the removal.

    • 4). Clean the affected area with a non-ammoniated household cleaner once you have completely removed the excess sealant from the bathrub area.
