Trojan Virantix C Removal Tool

    Description

    • The Virantix C trojan works in conjunction with any number of rogue anti-virus programs. The Virantix C trojan launches security alerts telling you that your computer is infected with viruses that have not actually infected your computer. The rogue anti-virus program then encourages you to purchase the "full version" of the program in order to remove the fictitious viruses. In addition, Virantix C attempts to disable your legitimate anti-virus programs, slows your computer and may download additional malicious programs. Due to the trojan's ability to disable your anti-virus programs, you should load Windows in Safe Mode before attempting to use a removal tool. To do this, restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. Select "Safe Mode With Networking" and press "Enter." Once you have used a removal tool in Safe Mode, you should load Windows normally and run the tool again.

    Avast! Free Antivirus 6

Free Antivirus 6, launch the program and click "Scan Computer" in the left pane. Click "Start" next to "Full System Scan." Avast! Free Antivirus 6 scans your entire computer and automatically removes any malicious programs that it detects.

    AVG Antivirus Free Edition 2011

    • To use AVG Antivirus Free Edition 2011, launch the program on your computer. Click "Scan Options" in the left pane and then click "Whole Computer Scan." AVG Antivirus Free Edition 2011 scans your entire computer and lists any malicious files. To delete a file, select the file and click "Delete." Alternatively, you can click "Delete All" to delete all of the malicious files.

    Microsoft Security Essentials

    • Microsoft Security Essentials is an anti-malware program created by Microsoft. The program should not be confused with Windows Defender, an anti-spyware program created by Microsoft. Windows Defender is designed to remove spyware and thus is not capable of removing the Virantix C trojan. To use Microsoft Security Essentials, launch the program on your computer. Click the "Home" tab, check the box next to "Full" and click "Scan Now." Microsoft scans your entire computer and automatically removes any malicious programs it detects, including the Virantix C trojan.
