How to Remove Hairspray From Painted Walls

    Flat Paint

    • 1). Wet a clean, soft cloth thoroughly with warm water and wring it out until it is almost dry.

    • 2). Rub the cloth over the area of the wall covered with hairspray. Be careful not to press too hard as you can rub away the paint.

    • 3). Repeat until the hairspray is completely removed. You may need to dampen the cloth several times to completely remove the hairspray.

    Other Paint Finishes

    • 1). Mix one part liquid fabric softener and two parts water in a spray bottle.

    • 2). Shake well to combine and spray the mixture directly onto the hairspray covered wall. Let the solution sit for a few seconds to let it begin to work.

    • 3). Wipe the area gently with a clean cloth and continue until the hairspray is completely removed.

    • 4). Dampen another cloth in water and rub it over the area to remove any fabric softener residue.
