Finding a Motorhome to Hire and Touring the UK Coastline

If you are somebody who likes to stay in the country for your summer holiday you may find yourself on the horns of an interesting dilemma.  With so many coastal resorts to visit, just which one will you pluck for?

Could it be Blackpool?  With its iconic tower, its Golden Mile, its world famous illuminations and splendid Pleasure Beach – Blackpool, in England's North West, is easily the United Kingdom's most popular seaside resort.  During the summer season it is a major entertainment hub, with so many of the country's biggest showbiz stars performing variety routines at the Grand Theatre.

On the other hand you might prefer to head for the South East to visit Brighton, the larger part of the seaside city of Brighton and Hove, in East Sussex.  Whilst its deeply historic Lanes were the only part of town to survive the destructive attentions of sixteenth century French raiders, the Marina, Royal Pavilion and Palace Pier (along with the West Pier, now sadly no more) later arrived alongside to create a friendly and hugely popular resort down on the south coast of England.

Back up in the north the civil parish and long established port of Whitby, in Yorkshire, has a deeply rich tourist and maritime heritage.  It is where Caedmon, recognised as the earliest English poet, lived and is where Captain Cook learned the art of seamanship.  A historic centre of both fishing and whaling activity, Whitby also attracts large numbers of holidaymakers and as such is one of Britain's most visited coastal resorts.  During the summer it hosts the famous Whitby Regatta over three consecutive days in August.

The writer's own personal favourite mainland seaside town is Margate in Kent, notwithstanding the effective shutting down as a holiday venue of the once lovely neighbouring resort of Cliftonville, with its long and graceful Esplanade and its scenic chalk cliffs, arcades and gift shops.

Of course if one is considering booking a hotel or even a modest guest house one will need to consider which of these resorts, alongside the many others that haven't been mentioned, appeals the most.  On the other hand one could hire a motorhome or camper van, save money on the hotel bills and tour around the coastline moving along from one resort to another, enjoying the unique and distinctive character of each along on one's travels.

Finding a camper van to hire is probably the cheapest but most efficient and cost effective way to tour the English coastline.  It enables you to stay for as long as you wish in any place that takes your liking, but to move on to somewhere else as soon as you feel inclined.
