Sacramento County School Districts
There are about 16 school districts within Sacramento County, encompassing such cities as Sacramento, Elk Grove, Elverta, Folsom, Galt, Rio Linda, Herald, Antelope, Rio Vista and Carmichael.
According to the Sacramento County Office of Education, enrollment in these districts totaled 237,781 as of October 2006. These school districts can be as small as 300 students at the Elverta Joint School District or as large as 60,000 at Elk Grove Unified School District.

Located in a rural city of Herald, Calif. in southern Sacramento County, the Arcohe Union School District has one school - the Arcohe School. There are about three classrooms each for primary education and two classrooms each for secondary education.
CUSD has about nine schools within its district, including two charter schools. The district celebrated its 149th year this past April. Most of the schools in this district are established in Antelope, with its only middle school in Roseville.
The four of the five schools that make up the Del Paso Height School District are elementary schools. The fifth school teaches a preschool through kindergarten. This northeastern district caters to a diverse student population.
EGUSD covers about one-third of Sacramento County with nearly 60 schools in rural, urban and unincorporated areas of Elk Grove, Sacramento, Florin, Franklin, Laguna Creek, Laguna West, Wilton, Vineyard, Rancho Murieta, Sheldon, Valley Hi and Sloughouse.
The three schools that make up the Elverta Joint School District is a preschool, elementary school and a middle school. The city of Elverta is located in northern Sacramento County.
Folsom Cordova Unified offers a diversity of educational opportunities, from traditional schools to adult education. There are 30 schools in the district, which occupies the northeast section of Sacramento County in Folsom and Rancho Cordova. There will an elementary and a high school opening for the fall 2007 semester.
Five elementary schools and two middle schools make up the Galt Joint Union School District, which serves the Delta city of Galt. While northwestern and eastern U.S. schools may experience snow days, extreme fog may cause delays for GJUSD students.
Two high schools and an adult education school make up this school district. A new high school is in the planning stages.
There are 19 schools in the Grant Joint Union High School District. New housing developments in the area will cause enrollment to grow at the high school level, according to district predictions.
Many NUSD schools can be found in the Natomas suburb, a growing area in northern Sacramento. The latest addition to the district is Inderkum High School, which opened in 2004. The campus also houses the North Natomas Library and the Natomas Center of American River College.
The North Sacramento School District is among the most diverse districts in the county with an 80% ethnic population. These 10 schools serve the northern and central Sacramento residents.
Rio Linda Union earned a Outstanding Achievement Award for the 2005-06 academic year. RLUSD schools are in North Highlands, Rio Linda, and Sacramento.
The River Delta Unified School District elementary, middle, high and adult schools serve the Delta cities of Courtland, Clarksburg, Isleton, Rio Vista, and Walnut Grove.
This northeastern school district serves preschool through sixth grade. The Robla School District consists of six schools.
SCUSD is among the 10 largest school districts in the state. In addition to the nearly 50,000 K-12 students, the district also serves 20,000 adult education students. SCUSD oversees nearly 90 schools, which are all located in the city of Sacramento.
San Juan Unified serves the cities and neighborhoods of Sacramento, Arcade, Arden, Orangevale, Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Gold River and Fair Oaks.
