Web designing, in simple words, means to plan and create websites. Hence, it is amalgam of technical knowledge of computer languages, such as HTML and CSS, and designing capabilities like site structure, UI, navigation, outline, colors, texts and graphics. A web designer, in order to plan, build and maintain a website must expertise HTML and CSS and also know about JavaScript, PHP, SEO, web servers and web marketing and strategy. All of these provide a website that satisfies the requirements of client. In practice, an individual does not singlehandedly create a website but a team, comprising of various individuals who are expert in each field work as a group to realize the clients' demands.
While developing a website, a designer must be clear about the target audience. Based upon the marketing requirements of the client and taking into the account of the demographics of the market, a designer puts in various elements in his design. These elements can deal with aesthetics of the website as well as the ease of navigation through the pages. This in known as user experience design which comprises layout, instructions and labeling on a website. User's understanding of a website depends on how much interactive the designers or developers have made it. The user is more likely to visit the website again if he notices it usefulness. The user experience design must be independent of the user skill level and hence a universal user experience is sought.
