A human resources assistant performs administrative tasks and focuses closely on an organization's employees. They might be responsible for coordinating a welcome event for new employees or organizing an end-of-the-work-year event for a certain department within an organization. At any scale, the HR assistant's main purpose is to collect and organize personnel records.

    Personnel Policies and Procedures

    • It is the human resources assistant's job to make sure all employees and job applicants have a thorough understanding of the company's personnel policies, office regulations and procedures.

    Compile Personnel Data

    • Collect and keep personnel data files for every employee at the company. This may include documentation of personnel functions, staffing, and training. An HR assistant is also responsible for filing information such as employee contacts, weekly earnings, and dates of and reasons for employee terminations.

    Review Resumes

    • An HR assistant is required to review and process employment applications. This means reading plenty of cover letters and resumes from prospective employees. The HR assistant will assess employment applications based on their relevance to the position and overall qualifications of each applicant.

    Supervise Employee Benefit Plans

    • The human resources assistant will assist in development of certain employee benefit programs and reward plans. Another related degree of this is planning special activities or workplace events.

    Recruitment

    • The HR assistant is responsible for heading up the recruitment process. This involves tasks such as composing available job descriptions and making posts to various websites or hiring agencies. The assistant also posts vacancies in a company newsletter or notice board and sets up interviews with acceptable applicants.
