How to Mount a Birdhouse

    • 1). Sand your metal pipe to remove any rust.

    • 2). Hammer the pipe flat on one end to prevent it from turning around once you stick it in the ground.

    • 3). Drive your post into the ground with a fence-post driver. Choose a wide, open area near a water source, so your bird has access to water and has plenty of space to fly around.

    • 4). Drill two 5/16-inch holes all the way through your pipe, one on top of the other.

    • 5). Drill two 5/16-inch holes in the back of your birdhouse. Make sure the spacing is identical to the spacing on your pipe so that the holes will match up.

    • 6). Line up your birdhouse holes with the holes in your pipe.

    • 7). Place your bolts through the birdhouse holes through the holes in your pipe. The heads of the bolts should be inside the birdhouse, with the threaded ends of the bolts sticking out of your pipe.

    • 8). Place lock washers on the ends of your bolts.

    • 9). Place nuts on the ends of your bolts, on top of the washers, and use a wrench to tighten them.
