The Negative Calorie Question - What Are Negative Calorie Foods?

One diet that has taken the diet world by storm is the "negative calorie diet," a diet that involves eating a lot of foods that are specifically listed as negative calorie foods.
No diet has been more controversial, either.
People argue over whether foods that can do this can even exist, while others counter that the point of a diet is to lose weight, so "negative" or not, it doesn't matter as long as the diet works.
Then the question remains: what are negative calorie foods? These foods, also sometimes referred to as "zero calorie foods," are a particular group of fruits and vegetables that have been identified as potentially forcing the body to burn more calories to process than those foods provide, thus causing a negative caloric effect.
Negative calorie foods all tend to have a high water content and fiber.
This combination helps.
The theory is that if a stalk of celery is 40 calories, but the body takes 50 calories to digest it and turn that food into energy, then celery would have a negative calorie effect of -10.
Whether or not this is completely accurate is still being debated, but the diet does work in helping people to lose weight.
These foods are all fruits and veggies, although not every fruit and vegetable is a negative calorie food.
It's not hard to find a complete list of acceptable foods for this diet, but the harder part is learning to properly put them into a diet since a negative calorie food diet is not meant to completely restrict your eating habits: it's only meant as a supplemental diet.
